Artist
Darwiche Chamaa
Darwiche Chamaa (born February 20, 1981) is a distinguished South Lebanese contemporary artist and educator whose abstract paintings masterfully re-envision the diverse textures and vibrant light of the Lebanese landscape.
Rooted in his family’s native village of Barja, Chouf, and currently based in Nabatieh, South Lebanon, Chamaa bridges regional sensibilities with international artistic frameworks to form a highly distinct visual language.
My creative vision is shaped by an extraordinary displacement of color and light, born in Gabon and grounded in Nabatieh. When I paint, the vibrant, fluid warmth of my African roots merges seamlessly with the architectural grids and profound heritage of Nabatieh. My abstract landscapes do not belong to a single coordinate; they are a living bridge spanning across continents, mapping the global soul of my identity.
